Ski Dubai
If braving the heights of a skyscraper isn’t for you, then you might want to try frolicking in the snow instead.
Ski Dubai offers just that. It’s an indoor ski resort in the Mall of the Emirates Dubai, one of the largest shopping malls in the world. This vacation destination is a 22,500 square meter (73,819 ft2) winter wonderland for ski enthusiasts and snow lovers alike. The venue is kept at -1 to 2°C (-33.8 to 35.6°F) throughout the year, making all sorts of chilly snow activities possible.
You can have fun at the ski slope by riding the chairlift to the very top. As for going down, you can choose to ski or snowboard your way back with some help from gravity. You can even take a zorb ball, provided that you’re not bothered by closed spaces. If you prefer more automated attractions, there’s also a mountain thriller ride and a snow bullet ride.
Just in case you’re not used to skiing or snowboarding, Ski Dubai also hosts lessons for both sports. Guests can rent the basic outfit and equipment, or they can simply buy the items from Snow Pro, a retail shop that carries snow-sport gear from top-quality brands around the world. It also sells souvenirs such as clothes, memorabilia, plushies, and key rings.
Other events include penguin encounters, such as Breakfast with Penguins and Walking with Penguins. You can interact with Ski Dubai’s cute and dapper avian residents up close. There’s also the Snow Cinema, a unique movie-viewing experience for the whole family to enjoy. You and your folks can sit back and watch an enjoyable blockbuster while snuggled up against the cold.
For guests that prefer taking a meal in between their snowy adventures, the North 28 restaurant is only a step away. It’s located next to the resort and features a diverse menu composed of the most flavorful dishes from the East and West. The Avalanche Cafe is also a popular dining spot. It’s in the resort itself, at the midway mark of the slope. It has a terrace overlooking the skiing area, and it serves the resort’s signature hot chocolate. Visitors looking for a warm drink will surely enjoy its sweet, creamy goodness.
