Inside the Biodome: What to See at Each Level
The Green Planet is built around a 25-metre central 'supertree' — a giant artificial tree structure that supports the entire biodome's ecosystem. The experience is spread across four levels, each representing a different zone of a tropical rainforest canopy.
Level 1 (the forest floor) is where you'll find the most impressive animal encounters: free-roaming fruit bats, large pythons draped over branches, and freshwater fish in the flooded forest section. Level 2 is the understory zone with sloths moving between branches — morning visits (opening time, 10am) are the best time to see sloths active. Level 3 and 4 rise into the canopy where hundreds of tropical birds fly freely around you. A resident sloth called Cullen is the park's most popular resident and always draws a crowd.
Best Time to Visit & Animal Activity
Green Planet animals are most active in the morning (10am–12pm) and late afternoon (4–6pm). The midday period (12pm–3pm) is when many animals rest — if you visit at this time, you may find the sloths and bats less visible. Morning visits also tend to have fewer visitors, making the animal encounters feel more personal.
The nocturnal zone on Level 1 is a highlight — a dark, UV-lit section where nocturnal species (bats, night animals) are active during visitor hours. The temporary animal encounter sessions (usually scheduled twice daily) allow supervised handling of certain reptiles and other animals. These are included in the ticket price and run at fixed times — check the daily schedule board at the entrance.

The Green Planet is located within the City Walk outdoor retail development in Al Wasl, about 10 minutes from Downtown Dubai by taxi. City Walk itself is worth exploring before or after your visit — it's one of Dubai's more architecturally interesting outdoor retail areas with good restaurant options.
Parking is available within City Walk (paid, by the hour). The attraction is fully air-conditioned and an excellent choice on hot summer days when outdoor activities aren't feasible. Combine with a City Walk dinner for a half-day itinerary. The Green Planet is genuinely popular with families, animal lovers, and nature enthusiasts, but also frequently appeals to visitors who dismiss it expecting something too small — the scale of the biodome surprises most people when they enter.
